昆蟲花瓶
2017
Tracing the my constant inspiration, 17th and 18th century European decorative arts, back to its origin, I ended up in the Ming Dynasty in China.
The influence of natural imagery originates in China, and was appropriated by the Europeans and derivative European culture.
I selected Ming Dynasty forms to recreate, and adorned them with bugs and insects, of which I have a particular aversion, found in my summer studio on Long Island, NY.
This series is also an exploration in the decorative object as an anthropological specimen, as well as a celebration of dichotomy, something I find important in my work.
