This piece is a magnetic platter, which is meant to serve a meal. The platter was inspired by an immense amount of traveling I had done on my own, and the occasional homesickness that came with it. I took the idea of the word lost and thought of the ways one finds themselves, technology such as compass or GPS, and through connecting with other people. I created a piece that spun and used magnetism like a compass, and who's purpose was to share a meal with other people.
I developed a magnetic clay body for this project (Patent Pending) based on a piece of lava rock I had with me while in London from Volcano National Park in Hawaii, the farthest reaching point I had travelled to at the time. The white dishes are affixed to the surface with Neodymium Magnets.
